Obama and most of the democrats support a piece of legislation called “Card check” the official title is “Employee Free Choice Act” under the proposed bill the NLRB would recognize the union's role as the official bargaining representative if a majority of employees have authorized that representation via card check, without requiring a secret ballot election.
What this means is that union thugs will have all the time in the world to coerce 51% of the employees of any given company to sign their union member card. Now is that Employee Free Choice?
If the dems believe that this sort of vote/signing of a card, not a secret ballot is adequate for employees wouldn’t you think this is how they should conduct business in the congress?
Well you figured wrong! As John Fund of the WSJ reports; This week's 137 to 122 vote of House Democrats to replace John Dingell with liberal Henry Waxman at the energy and commerce committee would likely not have happened but for the secret ballot. Even Rep. Louise Slaughter, chairwoman of the House Rules Committee, told Congressional Quarterly she was relieved the vote would be a private one: "It's a secret ballot. . . . Thank the Lord."
Who would have figured? Such a double standard! They are dems-what can you expect!

If this bill passes (and we have to take the dems at their word, they are going to try and pass it ASAP) we can kiss good bye a few million more jobs and a number of industries. Because that’s what unions do! They are job killers and industries, they ship jobs out of this country by making it to expensive on the corporations.
Union membership has been in decline. The dems are beholden to the unions. Therefore they support the bill. This is special interest groups applying pressure and ramming a bill down our throats, against the interest of their constituents’ and to the determent of our county. People-good old politics is at work! Nothing has or will CHANGE!
Stay tuned this is turning out to be a big fight in congress, we hope that the GOP will hold strong and unite against this bill. We have to make sure that every democrat who supports this bill and votes in favor pays a political price at home for all the damage it can and would do.

A Little Something for the GOP?
Fred Barnes has a good piece at:
A Little Something for the GOP?
As I have been saying how do you turn a recession in to a depression?
"Does anyone think this will work? It was tried by the president whom Obama seems to regard as his model, Franklin D. Roosevelt. Rather than jolt the country out of the Depression, FDR prolonged the economic slump right up to World War II. He advanced the interests of organized labor over those of business. Obama would do roughly the same through card check, a minimum wage increase, and protectionism."
All of you who sat this one out. The price we can all pay might be quite large.
I will write another time about card check, a minimum wage increase, and protectionism.

Now it's our turn to hope for real "change"
There have been many good pieces written on the future of the conservative movement.
We that are the young people (and the rest of the party) can now hope that having swallowed a very bitter pill there will be a "change" for the better in our movement.
For the last 8 years (right after 911 being the exception) the Democratic party has shown how the minority party can be and are very relevant.
What the media won’t tell you is that for the last 8 years every single item that the Bush and the GOP wanted to pass unless they had 60 senators it never came to a vote on the floor. From Cabinet appointments (Obama did it in 05) Judges even the Ambassador to the UN (Josh Bolten) my point being that the democrats get as much credit and blame for the last 8 years.
Something the Democrats did very well was toe the party line. I mean how often do you see 10 senators agreeing on anything yet they voted as a block to abstract all of Bush agendas. While they worked and voted as one the GOP was slowly committing suicide with the help of its right but mostly the left with in its own party.
The GOP got fat and lazy never mind greedy. Gone or pushed to the side where the idealist, every time a member of the GOP was in trouble he was thrown over board and all it did was embolden the democrats. Haven't we read our own talking points that by giving in to the terrorist we are emboldening the enemy? That is exactly was happened in the Congress and the white house for that matter, we kept on throwing people over and guess what the country threw us over and elected to office the most liberal person ever.
We have to learn from history otherwise we are bound to repeat it and take our expensive lessons and move on to a brighter future one were we achieve our goals and can still look at our self's in the mirror. It is time for "the contract with America 2.0.
The next 4 years we should utilize the tricks a taught us by the democrats and make sure that noting gets by the senate that we don't approve of. We have to stand together as one to block anything that is not good for the county and is not part of our world view.
One major difference between us and the Dems is offer a clear alternative.
For 8 years the Dems stopped and hobbled bush and the GOP while not offering any alternatives and the only reason they are in office is because of our misdeeds not a great vision or any new ideas that they offered. We have to stop the liberal agenda and offer a clear alternative and fully explain our position in a united way.
We have to become the party of small government and fiscal responsibility again and stop the pork barrel for crying out loud.
We also have to be the party of the future, how you ask? Well the future is about new technologies, the rising powers of currently 3rd world countries (like China) and a world free of oil oh did I mention the unknown? The way to stay ahead is via education (I shall share with you my ideas on such at a later date) the GOP has to come up with a plan a backup plan and a double backup plan all with the goal of keeping the USA at the front of the world.
More to follow..
