Close the door on China!

Enough is enough!

I consider my-self an open minded conservative who believes in open markets, supply side economics, and fair global trade. But I have had enough of China continuously pushing us in to a corner and either we fight now or deal with the consequence later.

If it were any other country violating us, economically, military, world policy-wise. We would not stand for it, and demand action.

Change the name China for say Iran or Venezuela, and we would demand sanctions immediately. Yet China gets away with it time and time again.

The time has come to nip them in the bud!

I propose that we give all USA companies doing business in China a years notice to find an alternative supplier, be it back here in the USA, Asia, India, or Latin America. A country that shares out interest and world view and isn’t trying to take us down any which way they can.

Once the year is up we cut all ties with China, unless they give us a number of concessions. A few of the top of my head are to let their currency float, stop all espionage activities and Internet warfare directed any every part of our government and our economy, open up their doors so that our products can compete on an equal footing with the local companies, and address the entire human rights issue including their business dealings with countries like Sudan.

If they don’t come to terms and abide by it we keep our doors closed.

Yes I know the ramifications.

For starters we will have higher inflation for some time. On the flip side once we get of the China-drug you will see a lot of jobs come here and jobs will go to our friends and allies not our enemies. Long term the prices will adjust.

Globally I believe that Europe and Japan will follow our lead and isolate China. The Chinese will be left with two options either come to the table and start acting like a responsible member of the world, or face isolation.

If they choose isolation it won’t be long before their government is replaced by a democracy that will respect its own citizens and the rest of the world.

I say lets get started.

PS This is definably a move that the democrats can get through congress. This will please the unions (I am not a fan of unions) and get the backing of all the average people who are sick of putting up with the Chinese, and all this inaction.

President Obama you can have your first major score, take it!
One that will be your legacy for years to come.
